ABOUT ME
Michael is currently a junior at Elon University double majoring in Cinema & Television Arts (B.F.A.) and Media Analytics (A.B.) with a double minor in Business Administration and Digital Arts. Aside from the internship with Liberty Skis, he is also currently directing and producing a documentary, Contrast, about two U.S. Freeski Halfpipe Team members on their journey to the 2022 Winter Olympics Games.
Michael's passion for documenting action sports and professional athletes started from a young age. Growing up in Colorado and being surrounded by 365 days of different outdoor films inspired him to follow in their footsteps. One documentary and video at a time I am achieving that goal.
ABOUT LIBERTY SKIS
Liberty Skis Corporation was founded in 2003 by Jim Satloff and Dan Chalfant. After starting their first office in Avon, they secured a contract with a Canadian factory to start producing their skis across the border. Two years after creating their first ski samples, Liberty attended their first SIA (Snowsports Across America) show. After this, Liberty decided to start creating their skis with bamboo cores, which set them apart from other ski companies.
After their start in the industry, skiers and industry magazines started to turn their heads to Liberty Skis. Helix, one of Liberty Skis' ski series, was quickly described as “might just be the best all-around ski ever” by Freeskier Magazine. As Liberty continued to grow, new ski series were introduced and they continued to refine their products to keep the skiers' attention.
In 2011, Liberty Skis became the leader in bamboo innovation with their skis. Even after celebrating the Liberty Skis' ten-year anniversary in 2014, Liberty Skis continued to expand with a new factory, releasing new models and continuing to reinvent their technology. From 2014 until the current day, they have continued to spread not only from Eastern America to Western America but all across the globe targeting all different skiers.
The six ski series that Liberty Skis manufactures are the Origin, Genesis, Evolv, Evolv Women’s, Helix, and Origin Backcountry. These skis range from every terrain from groomers, to park and pike to out-of-bounds backcountry terrain for both men and women. On top of creating skis, Liberty Skis also creates bindings for the skis, ski poles, ski bags, and different types of soft goods.
